Jeremy Wisdom – Director / Physiotherapist

For over 15 years I’ve been treating people from all walks of life. From elite athletes to new mothers to desk-bound workaholics. I’ve seen people searching for help to relieve their aches and pains, and frustrations with their inability to perform to expectations.

I’m passionate about providing a better way to serve the community – this is why I started Wisdom Physiotherapy in Nedlands.

Over the years I’ve refined my Physiotherapy and Clinical Pilates techniques. I grew up in Nedlands and completed two degrees from Curtin University and the University of Western Australia, I then gained experience working in Kalgoorlie, the Sunshine Coast, Melbourne and Perth.

I enjoy working with a diverse client base to improve function and reduce pain. I like to find out what is causing the pain and then treat it to address both short-term and long-term outcomes.

I have an open mind when it comes to my clients, everyone is different and requires a unique approach. I have a strong appetite for implementing evidence-based techniques such as the neuromuscular theory of DMA Clinical Pilates with functional rehabilitation and dry needling.

It’s important to have achievable goals and a streamlined program, so I take my time to design and communicate your optimal journey to wellness.

I treat the body as a whole. I find clients have the most success with treatment when we work together to improve the whole body, which is why I love to use the techniques incorporated into Clinical Movement Therapy.

I’m particularly interested in improving posture and muscle control to relieve and prevent back pain. My areas of clinical interest include:

  • Back pain
  • Shoulder pain & injuries
  • Fibromyalgia syndrome
  • Postural strain
  • Cervicogenic (tension) headaches
  • TMJ, neck stiffness, jaw clenching/locking
  • Sports injuries
  • Dry needling
  • Clinical Movement Therapy – private & small groups

How Can I Prevent Back Pain?

The latest research tells us that often people have never had a physical trauma to cause back pain like a car accident, falling, or lifting something heavy. JAWS! [ or pain in the Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ]

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome is pain in the jaw joint. The TMJ can be found just in front of your ear when you open and close your mouth. Many people are misdiagnosed - their symptoms are often put down to headaches, ear infections, problems with their teeth or even their back.

The details on Dry Needling

Dry needling uses a very fine needle to insert into the 'trigger point' of the muscle tissue. The tiny needle induces injury signals to the brain to initiate a sequence of events to repair the damaged tissue with new, healthy tissue.

What’s The Difference? Pilates vs Clinical Pilates

We often get asked what the difference is between regular/fitness (mat) Pilates classes and our Clinical Pilates classes. And it's no wonder, the word 'Pilates' has become used by so many different businesses, each with varying degrees of quality.
