Improve the way you move
Clinical Pilates programs are designed to improve your overall body condition by enhancing your strength, mobility, posture, and movement control. These programs are customised to your specific needs, and they may include the use of specialised equipment such as the reformer, trapeze, weights, pilates ring/balls, foam roller, Bosu ball, and more. By working with these tools, you can improve your muscle activation patterns and enhance your body’s natural movement preferences.
Our clinical pilates programs are specific to your needs.
Clinical Movement Therapy incorporates Clinical Pilates™, but it differs significantly from fitness Pilates or reformer classes that offer a one-size-fits-all program. During our sessions, we carefully evaluate and respond to your body’s unique movements to achieve optimal results. Each participant in our group receives personalised instruction to meet their specific goals.
Our approach to Clinical Movement Therapy takes into account two essential factors: neural drive and directional preference. Neural drive refers to the communication between your brain and muscles, which is critical for maintaining good posture and movement. Directional preference is based on DMA Clinical Pilates™ research, which indicates that most people have a preferred way of movement, either through extension or flexion.
Our team of experienced Physiotherapists has undergone extensive training in DMA Clinical Pilates™. We use these assessment techniques in conjunction with physiotherapy-specific exercises and your treatment plan to achieve the best possible results.
What you can expect
At both of our clinics (Nedlands & Claremont), we are committed to helping you achieve your goals through Clinical Pilates. Before starting group sessions, we conduct a thorough one-hour private assessment to create a personalised program for you based on your needs.
Our group consultations have a maximum of four people, ensuring that you receive individualised attention from your treating physiotherapist. We constantly review and modify your program to ensure that you achieve the desired results.
Our studio is a friendly and welcoming environment that caters to people of all ages and physical abilities. By participating in our Clinical Pilates/Clinical Movement Therapy program, you can expect to:
- Improve your posture, strength, balance, and control
- Reduce back, neck, shoulder, and leg pain
- Manage and recover from injuries, including surgical rehabilitation
- Correct poor mechanics underlying your injury
- Manage arthritis conditions
- Develop greater resistance to injury
- Train your muscles to help your body work safely and efficiently
