On the 16th August 2015 at 7am, team WOW (Cass, Gabby & Kelli) joined 650 other walkers in The Bloody Long Walk, 35km from Perth to Cottesloe. In doing so, they helped raise much-needed awareness and funds (over $1,100) for Mitochondria disease.
‘Mito’ is a chronic illness, robbing the body’s cells of energy. It causes physical and cognitive disabilities, some of the symptoms include muscle weakness and pain, loss of coordination, seizures & organ failure. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no cure.
Walking 35km is very challenging, and one of the best things you can do to prepare is start your training early – by lots of walking, as well as core strength training.
Wisdom Physiotherapy were proud to sponsor team WOW by contributing to the donation, providing Physio advice and matching outfits as well as taping their feet before the walk (essential for added support and to reduce the chances of blistered feet!).
